Some of this week's wonderful exploration has included:
We have nearly finished our Little Red Hen unit of work in English
this week. We have been exploring what we would need to make bread. We have
explored ingredients and how we would make the bread. The children have used
their phonic knowledge to write a list and also sequenced a set of bread making
instructions! Next week we walk down to town to buy some bread and then come
back to school and eat it! We will also be baking our own bread too!
The children have been matching numerals to representations
of numbers to 10 this week and they completed a lovely lesson with our student
teacher Miss Wilson.
The children have loved exploring Little Red Riding Hood as their
traditional tale this week. They have decorated pictures, practiced cutting
skills by making story scenes, completing Little Red Riding Hood maths
activities and so much more!
We are coming to the end of term now and have lots of
exciting things planned so please look out for information on your emails.
Have a lovely weekend
The Foundation Team

What a fantastic week it has been! We were very lucky to take part in the sports competition at Callington College, where the children enjoyed both multiskills and rugby. They represented the school brilliantly and took on new challenges with enthusiasm. A huge thank you to the college and their students for hosting us and giving everyone such a brilliant opportunity.
Back at school, excitement is building as we have started practising the lines for our upcoming performance. The children are doing an amazing job learning their parts, and this will really step up next week when we head down to the village hall for a series of rehearsals.
In our curriculum learning, we have continued exploring electricity in science, investigating whether circuits will work depending on whether they are complete or incomplete. In PE, we are continuing to develop our skills in handball, focusing this week on how to defend effectively.
In PSHE, we looked at the important topic of bullying and discussed real case studies, sharing our thoughts and ideas. The children responded with maturity and sensitivity.
What a wonderful week we've had in Tregantle Class!
At Forest School, we embraced the beauty of autumn by making our own nature necklaces. The children carefully selected colourful leaves and threaded them to create unique pieces of natural art. This activity was fantastic for strengthening fine motor skills and encouraging creativity in an outdoor setting. It was lovely to see everyone so absorbed in the magic of nature.
Back in the classroom, we got into the festive spirit by making gingerbread ready for the Christmas season. The children practised weighing and mixing the ingredients, using all their senses to explore the spices and textures. The room was filled with excitement-and the delicious smell of ginger!
We've also been getting stuck into books! Tregantle Class have shown a real enthusiasm for reading this week, spending time in our cosy book corner and enjoying story times with both old favourites and brand-new reads. Their love of books is truly shining.
One of the highlights of our week was our trip to Saltash Cinema-our very first trip out of school together! The children walked beautifully to our local cinema and were thrilled to watch The Wild Robot as part of National Cinema Week. It was a memorable and exciting experience for everyone.
Well done for another fantastic week, Tregantle Class! Your curiosity, enthusiasm, and teamwork continue to make us proud.
So we come to the end of another busy week in Y4/5; in English, we've been finishing our innovations on the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk', set in Cornwall of course.
In maths,Y5 have just embarked on a new unit -Fractions, whereas Y4 are working on multiplying and dividing, with a spot of addition and subtraction revision.
Sound is the topic in science and we're looking at how sound travels, particularly through solids, liquids and gas, conducting some fun investigations to illustrate this along the way. Computing currently is all about coding, which has been fascinating.
Of course, Christmas is creeping ever closer, so we've also been practising carols and readings for our Christingle Service and creating some wintery art to bring a little magic to our classes for next week's 'Hunt the Issy', so do come along and check out our class galleries! We're still collecting jam jars by the way.
Finally, a huge highlight this week has been our lantern workshops with the lovely Jill Hudson, which is an annual treat that we always look forward to; we even had a visit from both the Deputy Mayor and the Mayor of Saltash, Rachel Bullock (who used to come to Brunel), so we felt very honoured. We hope you can join us for the parade on Saturday 6th December at 6pm.

We've had an exciting week full of learning and creativity!
In Science, we've been exploring circuits-discovering how electricity flows and what makes a circuit complete. Students have been experimenting with switches, bulbs, and batteries to see how everything connects.
In English, our imaginations have taken flight as we write fantasy adventure stories inspired by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Everyone is creating their own magical worlds, filled with unique characters and thrilling quests.
In Geography, we've been learning about migration-why people and animals move from one place to another, and how these journeys shape cultures and ecosystems.
It's been a wonderful mix of science, storytelling, and global understanding. We can't wait to share more of our work soon!

In our phonics lessons this week we have been using musical instruments to make different sounds.

We have been making loud, hard sounds and soft gentle sounds. We can identify pitch and copy a rhythm.

We are using our skills to transfer to our Christmas play; we are using percussion instruments to accompany our singing.
Hello everyone,
Christmas is coming and we have started to practice our Christmas nativity performance. The children all have their parts, and some of the older children in Penhallow may have taken home some lines to learn. Please help them at home if you can. We are all very excited to be performing this in a few weeks time.
During our English lessons this week, we have been using the story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers to improve our writing skills. So far, we have written thought bubbles for different characters in the story, described a lost toy, and written about what we would do, if we found a lost penguin.
We have all learnt a poem this week, as part of our learning about Benjamin Zephania, for black history month. The poem is called 'Clever Trevor' and is about a footballer. We have enjoyed adding actions and expression to the poem.
In maths this week, Reception have enjoyed investigating 2D and 3D shapes, Year 1 have been learning about addition and subtraction fact families, and year 2 have been adding 2 digit numbers.
We have also enjoyed plenty of time outside, learning and playing, despite the cold and changeable weather.
Have a lovely weekend!

This week has been another exciting one in Class 3! We continued our work on databases, learning how to input information carefully into Excel. In geography, we carried on exploring the Antarctic, discussing what it is like there and identifying its key features. Today we enjoyed a special teddy and toy day as a reward for all the children's hard work-it was a lovely way to celebrate their effort.
In maths, we kept practising our times tables, and it's clear the children are making great progress. Thank you for all the support happening at home; it really shows in their learning. In science, we built electrical circuits using buzzers, motors, batteries, cells, switches, and lightbulbs-an amazing hands-on lesson!
In PE, we developed our handball shooting skills, especially the jump shot, with some incredible attempts. Finally, we began practising for our Christmas performance, filling the week with lots of singing practice.
What a week it has been! Nativity practice galore all wrapped up with the snow on Thursday when Class 2 managed to get out in time for the best part of the snow shower (?) in the morning. Can you believe it, we even managed a snow fight... of sorts!
In Literacy, we have all planned our traditional story in the style of the Gingerbread Man and cannot wait to begin using all our new language skills to write our story up next week. In Maths, we have finally completed our unit on Addition and Subtraction by completing our HOT TASK on Friday. I must say, I am very impressed with the progress everyone has made in their knowledge of addition and subtraction this term.
In Science, we continued our enquiry into the properties of material but setting up a fair test to compare the elasticity of different materials. In PSHE, we continued our unit on celebrating differences by discussing "Bullying." We discussed what bullying is and is not, and talked about what we could do if we see bullying in the school. Just have a look at some of the anti-bullying slogan they created for the gingerbread man's hat.
Finally, a very well done to:
> Finley for getting the Ready Award for his amazing work in Maths
> Ella for getting the Respectful Award for always using a respectful and polite voice in the classroom.
> Isla for getting the Safe Award for making sure our classroom is a safe environment for everybody by helping tidy up and following instructions.
What an amazing week we have had. Play rehearsals are in full swing and everyone is getting into character!
In English, we are planning our Mayan narrative, altering the plot and characters as we go; I am looking forward to reading them. For Maths this week, Chaipel have been problem-solving as well as calculating missing angles. Next week, we will begin to delve into fractions!
Our trip to St Ives on Thursday was a huge success. We visited the Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth sculpture museum, selecting our favourite sculpture for us to replicate out of clay. We then took part in a chocolate-making workshop at I SHOULD COCO. We put our knowledge of chocolate-making to the test; creating chocolate bars and lollypops, then decorating, piping and packaging them up. We had a great day and enjoyed sharing our yummy produce with our families!
