What a fantastic week we've had in Tregantle Class!
The children have really immersed themselves in our topic on transport and vehicles. They have been busy creating hot air balloons, cars, and aeroplanes, which are now proudly on display in our classroom. It's wonderful to see their creativity and hard work showcased for everyone to enjoy.
On Monday, we welcomed a specialist music teacher who led the class in fun pulse and rhythm games. The session was full of energy and excitement, and the children especially loved playing the ukulele and joining in with singing. It was a truly enjoyable experience for all.
We have also been getting our hands dirty in the garden by planting seeds. The children learned how to carefully plant and look after them, and we are now eagerly watching and waiting to see them grow!
In literacy, the children produced some fantastic "have a go" writing about planting seeds. They showed great confidence using their phonics knowledge and tricky words-well done!
In maths, we have been practising accurate counting of objects up to 20. The children have been working hard to develop their confidence and accuracy.
It has been a very busy, productive, and fun-filled week. We are so proud of everything the children have achieved!

This week in Science, we have been learning about the different parts of plants and discussing the important jobs they do, as well as exploring the fascinating ways seeds are dispersed, including by wind, water and animals. The children have enjoyed making links between what plants need to grow and how seed dispersal helps plants survive and spread. In English, we have been focusing on writing speech, thinking carefully about how dialogue is punctuated and how it can be used to show character and move a story forward. In Maths, Year 6 pupils have been developing their skills with co‑ordinates, plotting and reading positions accurately, while Year 5 have been working hard to match fractions with their equivalent percentages and explaining their thinking clearly. We would also like to remind families that May Day dancing will take place on Bank Holiday Monday at the village hall just after midday, and we hope you can come along to support our fantastic dancers and enjoy the celebrations.
This week in Lantic Class, we have been working incredibly hard across all of our learning!
In Maths, we have been learning all about quarters. We have now finished our fractions unit and completed our assessments - the children have shown great understanding and should feel very proud of themselves.
In English, we have begun planning our pirate persuasive adverts. The children have had lots of fun thinking of exciting ways to persuade people to join our pirate crew - we can't wait to start writing them onto special paper!
In DT, we have been exploring different fruits and vegetables, using our senses to describe them and thinking about what we might like to use in our designs.
We have also been working really hard on our handwriting, focusing on forming our letters neatly and carefully.
We are all very excited for our upcoming trip to Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary on 19th May! If you have not yet returned your permission slip, please make sure you do so as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support.
Please keep reading at home each day with your children as much as possible and continue to access Anton maths where the children love to play games and explore.

We have had a great couple of weeks back to nursery. Our enquiry question has been "What can you see on the farm?"
The children have been busy getting creative and making lots of different farm animals including bubble wrap sheep and paper plate cows.
We have had the farm in the tuft tray and the children have been singing the song "Old McDonald had a farm".
At story time we have enjoyed "Baa Moo, what will we do?", "Farmer Duck" and "Moo Moo Mooing".
In phonics this week the children have been blending sounds together, breaking down words into syllables and have enjoyed a game of cafe bingo.
In maths, we have been naming, ordering and writing numbers.
It's a bank holiday on Monday so we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday.

Storytellers Nursery has been making the most of the warmer days by getting outside and starting work on their vegetable patch. The children enthusiastically dug holes ready for planting potatoes, taking turns with tools and working together as a team. They also carefully filled trays with compost before sowing a variety of vegetable and herb seeds, showing great concentration and care as they completed each step.
Spending time outdoors and engaging in gardening activities brings so many benefits for young children. It supports their physical development as they dig, carry, and scoop, helping to build strength and coordination. It also encourages teamwork, communication, and confidence as they share ideas and work alongside their friends.
Gardening is a wonderful hands-on way for children to learn about the world around them. They begin to understand how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and where food comes from. This early connection to nature can help foster a sense of responsibility and care for the environment.
Being out in the fresh air also supports children's wellbeing, helping them feel calm, happy, and engaged. Activities like these spark curiosity and excitement, creating meaningful learning experiences that the children will remember as they watch their plants grow and flourish over time.
Huge thanks to everyone who donated seeds and plants. We really appreciate it
Welcome to the Summer Term!
It has been lovely this week to finally enjoy some outside learning in the sunshine. We have been enjoying our recently purchased trikes and our writing shed has been transformed into an explorers base with a jungle theme.
Our learning this term, is based on the enquiry question; 'Who are explorers and what do they do?' We have launched the topic by discussing what we already know about explorers, and have researched the equipment that explorers might need in different environments. The children have asked some interesting and thoughtful questions such as; 'Can anyone be an explorer? Are explorers allowed to take home what they discover? and 'What is the furthest anyone has ever explored?' This led us to find out the recent space mission which ventured to the far side of the moon.
'The Tiger who came to Tea' has been the focus of our English learning in Year 1 and Year 2 for this week as well as next week. We have drawn a story map, summarised the story and used interesting verbs in sentences. Reception have been busy using 'Supertato' as their text for English, and have written some lovely wanted posters as well as going on a search for the evil pea. It's so lovely to see the children have so much fun with their learning this week.
What a brilliant start to the term everyone! Well done.

It has been lovely welcoming Chaipel back this week for the Summer term.
We have been working together to go through some SATS-style questions in Maths and SPaG, drawing upon our individual knowledge to support our peers. In English this week, our Anne Frank diary entries have been edited and improved and we have almost finished producing our final copy. I have to say, everyone has had a real focus on their handwriting and their dedication has really paid off.
Our enquiry this half term is... WHAT DO ALL LIVING THINGS HAVE IN COMMON? We will investigate the seven life processes and how to classify living things in Science, create an explanation text for these processes as part of our writing unit and learn about the art of tie-dying, where we will create our own tie-dye T-shirt and then use our knowledge of various sewing techniques to embroider our chosen design.
CONGRATULATIONS to our People of the Week - Leo and Frankie - who have demonstrated our school values and been role models for their peers.
That's all from us, so have a great weekend and enjoy the warm weather!
Miss Randle and Mrs Clary

It has been brilliant to have the children back at school this week. It has been especially enjoyable to have such lovely weather to be able to get on the field at breaktimes.
We have kicked the term off with learning about money in maths and going onto difficult calculations such as finding change.
We have started learning about the Mayans in history and their incredibly long and successful reign. We also discussed how they were such an innovate civilisation.
For Science, we have started learning about plants and have begun the term with an experiment to see how much of a different fertiliser makes. We have planted some cress in non fertilised soil and some cress in fertilised soil. We are looking forward to seeing the results.
In PE, we have been doing dodgeball and athletics. In computing, we are learning about the weather and how to predict what the weather will be like.
It has been another busy, productive week of learning!
Welcome to Summer 1 everybody and the sun has shown its face - YAY! It's great seeing all of the children and hearing about some of their fun-filled adventures over the Easter Holiday.
Here's a snapshot of what we've been learning:
Maths:
Year 5 have begun their second unit on FRACTIONS where we have been multiplying fractions.
Year 4 have begun their unit on DECIMALS and PERCENTAGES where they have been solving problems with tenths and hundredths.
English:
We're going to write a persuasive text this term to the local council about beach and ocean pollution. This week, we have been looking at different persuasive texts and exploring which features make an effective one.
Geography:
In Geography, we are investigating the ocean. This week, we explored the different oceans of the planet, why the ocean is so important and took a trip to Australia to look at the Great Barrier Reef.
Science:
Talland investigated the water cycle this week and all of the magnificent things it does.
PE:
In PE, with Mrs. Hillman, Talland were finding clues to help them solve problems during orienteering and with me (Mr. Langley), we practiced badminton serves outside in the wind - it was a little challenging - based on the weather - but lots of fun at the same time. Lots of giggles were had!
Celebrations:
Congratulations to Rory for progressing to the next round of the 99 Club - well done! A big well done as well to Amelia for demonstrating our school values. She showed kindness towards her peers and fantastic determination towards her handwriting - it is looking fantastic now! Also, great work from Isabelle in our HANG TOUGH CHALLENGE! She lasted a whopping 2 minutes and 28 seconds - WOW!
That's all from Talland Class this week. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week.
Signing off, Mr. Langley and Mr. Bishop.
