Welcome!

St Cleer Primary Academy  |  Year 5/6 H

Welcome to Year 5-6H! It has been great to welcome the children back after the Summer break - and we have a few new faces in class who are settling in quickly!  The first few days are always busy, but the children have made an excellent start to the new term.  We are really looking forward to seeing how much the children will be able to achieve and grow this school year!

Please find below some of the important information for our class this term.

Getting in touch:  There are many times throughout the year when you may want to get in touch with the staff team.  Please do come and speak to any member of staff in class at drop-off or pick up each school day.  You can also email any questions, concerns, updates to thazlewood@stcleerprimary.co.uk

Learning in school:   The mind-map attached below outlines the learning we have planned for this half term.

Learning at home:  It is important in Year 5 & 6 for the children to support their learning at home. The following guidelines are what we share with the children:
READING - Ten minutes a day (recorded in the children's reading record)
SPELLING - We learn 15 spelling words each fortnight. Please find the Autumn term spellings attached below. As well as our focus spellings - the children are also expected to learn the statutory spellings attached.
KIRFs and Timestables facts - We ask the children to learn some important Key Instant Recall Facts each term. Please see the KIRF documents below which outline the important maths facts this term. The children will continue to have access to Times Tables Rock Starts to practice and consolidate their times tables facts (login details will be stuck into the front cover of the children's reading record)
Online learning (ATOM LEARNING) - We use an online platform called Atom Prime to support the children's learning. Each week we will set 'assignments' based around learning we have been doing in school.

PE:  Our class PE session has moved to a Tuesday this term (apologies if this has caused any problems). We also have additional sports sessions planned for Year 5 children with Coach James on a Wednesday afternoon. On the days when your child will be doing PE, please ensure that the children arrive in school dressed in their PE kit (both days for Year 5, Tuesday for Year 6).

We are really looking forward to all the opportunities which this new school year will bring.  As always, please do get in touch if you have any questions or concerns (or just want to say 'Hi')!

All the best,   Mr Hazlewood & the Year 5/6 team.

Autumn 1 Week 1

St Cleer Primary Academy  |  Year 1/2 L

Welcome back!

Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy  |  Y6 Treyarnon

Welcome back!

It was wonderful to greet the new year 6 children today for their final year at Brunel. We have an exciting year ahead with many memories to make.

Today we started with some icebreaker questions. This helped me to get to know the children and I was intrigued and interested with some of their answers. Please see the photos for some of my favourites.

Next week, we will be starting our new topic called 'Where Does Energy Come From?' Please see the knowledge web below to find out what we are learning in each subject.

The children will be coming home with their class dojo logins. Please use these to see how your child is earning points in class. I will also post messages on there occasionally so make sure you check it regularly.

Welcome to Duckpool...

Hello everyone and welcome back to Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy and the new school year. We hope you've had the best Summer and enjoyed plenty of sunshine, whether that was on holiday or at home.

We are so excited to be back as we've lots of great plans for this term which we can't wait to share, as we know it's going to be fun.

Its been a busy time here, just look at all the wonderful projects that have been completed over the holiday, we now have a fabulous outdoor classroom, an amazing pond and new playground equipment. We've already had a taster session using the Builders' Yard, so we're looking forward to having time to explore that more fully too.

Our ClassDojo details are coming home on Thursday, do please sign up and join us to find out more about what's going on in Duckpool and allow us to share messages.

In the meantime, take a look at the knowledge planner for Autumn Term 1 and also our Maths policy below, which is helpful in that it shows you which methods we use in our maths lessons.

Each week, we'll be sharing our learning here, so please watch this space!

St Cleer Primary Academy  |  Year 5/6 S

Welcome to 5/6KN

We hope you all had an excellent summer break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the new school term.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back into class tomorrow and Miss Kite and Mrs Nute will both be on site.

A few reminders to support with a smooth start to the school year:

-School starts at 8.45. Children should line up at the door outside the classroom.

-Our PE day has changed to a Thursday. Please ensure children come into school in full PE kit.

-Reading records will be checked each Friday. Please support your children by signing their reading records and allowing them time to read to you. 2 books will go home with the children each day and need to come back into school with them every morning.

-Lunch boxes will be kept inside the classroom this year so children will be asked to leave these, and their water bottles, in the classroom when they come in. -Please label all of your child's items. (Toys, fidgets, stationary etc from home should not be brought into school).

-If your child is going into year 6 and will be walking home, please send an email to Mrs Palmer in the office to give your consent.

Please do take the time to visit our class blog which will be updated regularly. We like the children to take responsibility for this in UKS2 and this includes their photos and videos; please log into Arbor and update the consent so children are able to participate where possible.

We are attaching an overview of this half term's learning along with the Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) to practise at home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Many thanks and see you all tomorrow,

Miss Kite, Mrs Nute and The Year 5/6 team.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are really looking forward to welcoming the children back tomorrow for the start of a brand-new year of learning in Mousehole Class!

I have uploaded an overview of the areas the children will be learning this half-term to this post, so you can see what exciting topics and activities we will be covering.

At drop-off, I will collect the children from the bottom of the drive - please could the children line up on the left-hand side.

I will give out the DOJO logins to children tomorrow for the parents who have not managed to sign up yet. If you have already done so you won't need to again.

Reading books will be given out on Monday, and further information about routines will be shared over the next week.

We can't wait to see the children tomorrow and begin another fantastic year together.

St Cleer Primary Academy  |  Year 1/2 H

Welcome to 1/2H!

Welcome back to the Autumn term, I hope everyone had a lovely and fulfilling break. I just thought I would give you some key information for the upcoming year.

Phonics: The children will resume their phonics sessions on Monday 8th September. This means they will get new reading books on this day. Children's reading books will be changed at least once per week, sometimes more depending on their group colour. We monitor and assess your child's reading regularly but should you wish to ask anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Homework: We ask that you listen to your child read their reading books every night and write this in their reading records. We monitor their records closely and keep track of their reading karate bands from their records. It makes such a difference to your child's reading if they read every night, little and often! Thank you in advance for your support with this. I will also send home some Year 1 and Year 2 spellings for the children to practise at home (they are also attached below). They are called common exception words and they are words we expect the children to be able to spell by the time they finish their respective year group. Again, little and often is the best way to practise these! If your child has done any work at home (this can be any subject) please do send it to me on Class Dojo or they can bring it in. We always love to celebrate any work completed at home and share it with the class.

Maths: We often use lots of songs in maths to help the children retain information and they normally really enjoy this! In Year 1 the children will learn to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. Year 2 the children will continue to practise their 2s, 5s, 10s and learn to count in 3s. We use lots of repetition of the songs to help us with this. I have copied some links below (including a number bonds song) for you in case they'd like to listen:

Counting in 2s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvTcpfSnOMQ&list=RDGvTcpfSnOMQ&start_radio=1

Counting in 5s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EemjeA2Djjw&list=RDEemjeA2Djjw&start_radio=1

Counting in 10s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ftati8iGQcs&list=RDFtati8iGQcs&start_radio=1

Counting in 3s (Year 2 only): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_cn87hOCDM&list=RDI_cn87hOCDM&start_radio=1

Number bonds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJBBaETaElI&list=RDNJBBaETaElI&start_radio=1

I also highly recommend Numberblocks songs, clips and episodes to develop children's understanding of number and fluency. Furthermore, BBC Bitesize have great resources to support your child's maths learning at home: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/zjxhfg8.

PE: PE will be on a Friday afternoon. Please can children come in wearing their school PE kits (no football kits please) on this day to save time in school.

Communication: Can I kindly ask if you need to contact me throughout the year to please use Class Dojo. Emails tend to get lost amongst all the others and then it can be hard to keep track of who I have responded to! For more general enquiries, please email our secretary at secretary@stcleerprimary.co.uk. Thank you for your understanding.

I am really looking forward to welcoming the children back on Thursday 4th September and meeting you all. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via Class Dojo.

Many thanks,
Miss Harden

Welcome to Year 6

Wadebridge Primary Academy  |  Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 page where you will find out about the great things taking place in our classes.

Home Learning

Maths Fluency: Learning times tables is really important. After all, they're the building blocks of maths, and with their multiplications mastered, they can do anything! Therefore, each child from Year 2 - Year 6 has a log in for 'Times Tables Rock Stars' (TTRS). This is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practise online which helps your child learn their tables in a fun and engaging way. Please encourage your child to log on to TTRS as often as possible. Children's use of these apps are monitored closely by teachers. Each week, one child per class is awarded the TTRS Champion.

Reading: Throughout the school, we emphasise developing a love of reading and books. From Reception to Year 6, reading should take place daily. We are happy for children to read their allocated reading book, their school library book or any other reading material. In Year 6, the children are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their own reading. Due to the varying length of books, the children will be responsible for changing their own books weekly. They will be able to change their books during morning work, guided reading sessions and at free reading times. Class teachers keep a record of book changes to support the children and give reminders if needed.

PE
Our PE lesson is on a Thursday. Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit to school every Thursday.

This web page will be updated throughout the year with our fortnightly weekly news, termly curriculum maps and other useful information, so please do watch this space!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes,

The Year 6 Team
